After a long hike, the boys found new energy once spotting the playground. The park was full of people picnicking, flying kites, badminton, basketball and walking.
Then off to the pier for a little more exploring. Last time we were here the pier was surrounded by jellyfish, no so lucky this time.
The pier was busy, full of people crabbing. The boys got to see a few crabs, another little eel and many boats as they passed by.
Then back to the car for the trip home.
The trail to Jughead Island is 5.5 km, with many hills. Big trees, beautiful west coast rain forest and the rare glimpse of the surrounding water. With the boys having a friend along, they were often running up ahead, back, jumping and anything else that could make he trip a little harder. With that, they all made it to the beach at the end, and Jughead Island.
After work I didn’t feel like sitting around the house, so we quickly got dinner out of the way, packed the boys bikes up and headed to Mud Bay Park.
This is a great place for the boys to ride there bikes, the trail is level, wide and few others. On this trip we saw a few Rabbits and Birds. Although I would usually put walking that close to the free way as a negative, on this trip I saw a Burro (Fibreglass Trailer similar to the Boler, I was too slow with the camera to get a picture), a trailer I have only before seen on the internet.

With the clouds collecting on the local mountains, it was time to head out somewhere it would be less likely to rain. The boys had never been to Barnston island, and with it’s quiet ring road it is a perfect place for a ride.
The train, machines and dump trucks in the area were a hit with the boys (although waiting for the train to cross took a while), and that was all before the parking lot. I also noticed trails I had never seen before. Later checking the sign it turns out there is a GVRD park at the point with trails, we will have to check out one of these days.
As we pulled in to the parking lot, the ferry arrived, however as we were unloading the bikes, it left, causing a little stress for the boys. It is a very short ferry trip, and by the time I had the bikes ready and car closed up it had returned and was ready for us to walk on.
A recent trip to manning park was amazing. Beautiful mountains, big snowflakes and some time spent snowboarding. More on the trip and picture click here.
I have moved my blog to www.OurBoler.com, the site is running and with a little more work should be finished in a couple days. Please stop by and check it out.
It seemed to stormy to go adventuring, however at mid day the sun came out and the wind calmed down, making it a perfect time to get out and fly a kite.
Being a two string kite it was a challenge for the boys, with a little help my oldest got the hang of it.
