Dinner at the Beach

March 27, 2012

Pier at Crescent Beach

Emerging from work the sky was bright blue, with the occasional white fluffy cloud.  It was a little cool (5 degrees), but weather like this demanded more than the usual evening visit to the neighborhood park.

Since having kids restaurants seem to be too much work, so off to pick up some food from the local grocery store and we were  off to the beach for a family picnic.  We often head over to Crescent Beach, It has a long trail along the beach to walk, picnic tables for dinner, enough room to fly a kite, sailing club, trains and a pier to keep the boys attention.

On a clear day like today you can see the local ski hills in the back ground, along with other local mountains, in the other direction you can see Point Roberts (US).

Tonight along with the usual birds (it is a common stop for many migrating birds) a seal kept popping his head up, offering a quick glimpse before he dived back down.

The boys entertained themselves with the usual throwing rocks in the ocean, playing on the beach, and tonight the seaweed washed up on the beach seemed to capture their attention.

It is a great place to spend the evening,  Regrettably tonight my camera refused to turn on, so I defaulted to the camera in my cell phone, a less than ideal option for these pictures.

I think it was a great idea to NOT take the kids to a restaurant! You and they probably enjoyed this dinner much better!
